Jeremy Garcia and Rosendo Reyna met in 1992 while beginning their classical studies under the direction of Philip Hii at the University of Texas A&M in Corpus Christi. During the next four years, the two performed together on a regular basis in guitar ensembles, duets, and even joint solo concerts. In fact, they were the first guitarists ever asked to do a joint freshmen recital at Del Mar College.
Jeremy moved on to SMU in 1996 where Rosendo joined him a year later. Once again, the two performed some of the most difficult classical duets in the repertoire, even arranging some new ones by Bach, Mozart, and Beethoven.
After receiving his masters degree in performance, Jeremy moved on to Houston and began teaching at Kingwood College and San Jacinto College North before receiving his first full-time teaching appointment at San Jacinto College South. In the meantime, Rosendo completed two masters degrees at SMU - one in education and the other in performance and began teaching Jr. High Orchestra for the Richardson School District near Dallas.
In February 2002, Jeremy began a Flamenco/Jazz duo with local Houston guitarist, John Acevedo under the name, Flamenco Sol. Rosendo moved to Houston in August of that year to take over the positions at Kingwood College and San Jacinto College North. When John Acevedo left Flamenco Sol to pursue solo endeavors in November, Rosendo was ready to fill in and add his own stylistic influence.
Simply called Garcia y Reyna, the duo writes and arranges all of their own music. Exactly ten years after they met and began performing together, Jeremy S. Garcia and Rosendo Reyna III are together again, and working on a cd to be released early next year.
